Ergo was a semester long team project for my Integrated Product Development (IPD) class in Winter 2020. This class' focus was around designing a solution to better the lives of those living in micro apartments. We were tasked with designing, and fabricating a product as well as communicating a business plan, brand, and website. My team consisted of students from across campus including the Stamps School of Art and Design, the Ross School of Business, and the School of Information. I am proud that in our 2020 IPD trade show Ergo was the best selling product of the four teams that competed. Our final trade show submission can be viewed here.
Sadly due to the COVID19 crisis, the semester went online halfway through and we were no longer able to fabricate the product. I used this as an opportunity to teach myself to render and animate the design in Fusion 360 as shown in our final product video.
Ergo smart desk is an Alexa-enabled desk that combines study features and ergonomic adjustments to maximize your productivity. The desk comes with manually adjustable legs, a built-in timer, an attached desk light, and the Alexa app. For people who don't have the space for a full sized desk or have cluttered environments, the ergo smart desk provides a clean workspace which can be easily stowed away once you're done working.
Although this was a team project all images shown here were created by me unless otherwise stated. *Ergo logo and branding was designed by Stephanie Li
IDEATION
During ideation, my team worked with a variety of concepts with the goal of decreasing stress in a small living space. We also conducted market research by polling our peers, and reaching interviewing people who lived in micro apartments. What you see are concept sketches, ideation, and the beginning stages of Ergo.
VIDEO
This product video was my main contribution to our final site. I worked with Fusion 360 CAD, rendering, and animation. The purpose of this video was to give our customer's a realistic image of the product and its functionality.
