This is a collection of the mini assignments I completed for my introductory level digital fabrication class. I worked with a variety of digi fab processes including the vinyl cutter, laser cutter, 3D printer and CNC router. I became well versed in Rhinoceros 3D, and Fusion 360 CAD.
3D PRINTED ACTION FIGURE: MODEL CRANE
The assignment for this project was to model and fabricate an action figure with moving parts. I chose to model a tower crane because I love them. The crane would have a hinge so the top arm could pivot and a sliding trolly. This project was modeled on Rhino 2.
LASER CUTTER: LASER BRA
This assignment was to make something round from a rigid material. I was inspired by laser cutting techniques used in fashion, and so I challenged myself to fabricate a bra. I designed a pattern with decorative raster engravings and kerf cutting to help with the shape. This project was modeled on Rhino 2 and Adobe Illustrator. The parts were stitched and glued together.
VINYL CUTTER: FLAMING CHAIR
This was my initial experience with the Vinyl cutter. The mini-assignment was to design and cut out a sticker. I completed a more complicated vinyl cut for a product design later this semester using vinyl cutting techniques which can be viewed here: MyMap.
