In collaboration with Isabella Brand, Josiah Retschler, and Alexandra Sperl
The Bridge Project was the final project for my Wood and Metal Fabrication class. It was a group project where we were tasked with making a scale model of a bridge that would replace one in our community. My group chose a section of a pedestrian walkway that went over a swamp area.
PROCESS AND FABRICATION
The walkway was made of MIG welded steel channel stock that held in oak panels for the floor. The walkway was reinforced underneath with welded steel sheets. The handrails were made with sandblasted channel stock which were drilled to hold the steel cable that ran through them.
